Semirutarum Urbium Cadavera is a collective born from the need of taking a radical political stance inside the black metal universe, (and not only) in contraposition to the more and more normalised nazi-fascist, homobilesbotransphobe, sexist and ableist presences siegeing it. Throughout the years, in fact, inside the ontologically conservative realm of metal, black metal managed to do its worst, pampering its most reactionary individuals and permitting a deeper nazi infiltration: with the justification of presenting itself as “evil incarnated”, on the contrary black metal placed itself on tamed and bigoted positions, completely compatible with the boring and pacified existent.
However, for a few years, a new scene came out from the mud. A new wave of bands, collectives and revolutionaries started being conscious of their strength and will not to hang back while the nazi-cosplayers, despite producing nothing significant, were managing to ruin the chance to enjoy music in free forms, self-determined and accessible. This is how, one way or another, red and anarchist black metal, or RABM, was born and formalised.
Since we enjoy the genre, we decided to act collectively to promote this new wave of antifascist black metal, so that it revolutionises and messes up our way of seeing, living and conceiving our scene. We want spaces that can conflict with the existing, we want to participate in gigs in opposition to the market logic which determines our lives and minds, we want our music to shout the rage of oppressed people and we want RABM to prosper as weed between the concrete cracks of this society.
And now, as Semirutarum Urbium Cadavera, we decided to also present ourselves in paper form to share the contents already available for free on our blog. Thus Semirutarum, Black Metal Zine, is born.

Semirutarum Urbium Cadavera è un collettivo che nasce dall’esigenza di prendere una posizione politica radicale all’interno dello scenario black metal (e non solo) in contrapposizione alle sempre più normalizzate presenze nazifasciste, omolesbobitransfobe, sessiste e abiliste all’interno di esso. Negli anni infatti all’interno della già ontologicamente conservatrice galassia del metal, il black metal è riuscito a dare del suo peggio, coccolando le sue figure più reazionarie e permettendo una profonda infiltrazione nazista: con la scusa del volersi presentare come male incarnato, il black metal si è al contrario assestato su docili posizioni bigotte e di totale compatibilità con il nosioso e pacificato esistente.
Ma da qualche anno una nuova scena è emersa dal fango. Una nuova ondata di band, collettivi e individui rivoluzionari hanno cominciato a prender coscienza della propria forza e della propria volontà di non stare in disparte mentre i cosplayer del nazismo, pur non producendo assolutamente niente di significativo, stavano riuscendo a rovinare a tutti la possibilità di godere della musica in forme libere, autodeterminate e accessibili. È così che, in un modo o nell’altro si è andato a definire e formalizzare il Red and Anarchist Black Metal, o RABM.
In quanto questo genere ci appassiona, abbiamo deciso di agire collettivamente per promuovere questa nuova ondata di black metal antifascista, affinchè rivoluzioni e stravolga il nostro modo di vedere, vivere e concepire le nostre scene. Vogliamo degli spazi in conflitto con l’esistente, vogliamo dei concerti in opposizione con le logiche di mercato capitaliste che determinano le nostre vite e le nostre menti, vogliamo che la nostra musica urli la rabbia delle persone oppresse, vogliamo che il RABM prosperi come un’erba infestante tra le crepe del cemento di questa società.
Ed ora, come Semirutarum Urbium Cadavera, abbiamo deciso anche di darci una forma cartacea per distribuire i contenuti che già sono liberamente fruibili sul nostro blog. Nasce così Semirutarum, Black Metal Zine.

[EN] While we wait for the new EP “A la Montanha/Lo Barban”, premiered by the Antifascist Black Metal Network on the 18th of May at 17 (GMT+2), we propose an interesting conversation with Lou Quinse, populous folk-black band with a profound punk attitude, hailing from Piedmont, from the Alps, or maybe directly from the folkish struggles of Occitane.
We spoke with them about their music, but also and especially about what it means to connect music and politics, about self-management, DIY and about metal and struggle.
To make it easy we divided the chat in two parts, below you’ll find the first part, the second will be available tomorrow.

[IT] In attesa dell’uscita del nuovo EP “A la Montanha/Lo Barban”, che verrà pubblicato in premiere dall’Antifascist Black Metal il 18 maggio alle ore 17 (GMT+2), proponiamo un’interessante conversazione con Lou Quinse, popolosa band folk-black ma profondamente punk proveniente dal Piemonte, dalle Alpi, o forse direttamente dalle lotte popolari occitane.
